What is Clinical Holding Training?
Deliver essential care with confidence, compassion, and compliance.
Clinical holding is the planned and professional use of restraint to provide vital treatment for patients who lack decision-making capacity. This comprehensive training equips you with the knowledge and skills to do this safely, legally, and effectively.
What to Expect:
This dynamic programme includes four interactive modules blending expert-led theory with hands-on practice, from routine care scenarios to managing confused or disoriented post-surgical patients.
By the end of the course, you will be able to:
- Make informed, evidence-based decisions aligned with legal and professional standards.
- Understand and mitigate the risks of clinical holding.
- Use effective verbal and non-verbal de-escalation strategies.
- Apply and safely disengage from clinical holding techniques.
Who Should Attend:
Ideal for Nursing practitioners and professionals across Mental Health, Social Care, and Acute Hospitals, or anyone who may be required to support patients during essential care or assessment.
We recommend candidates attend our Ligature training session, which takes place earlier in the day from 9 am to 12 pm. This will provide a full day of accredited training allowing you to obtain two certifications, and includes lunch.
