About Our Trainer

Johnny Boyle has been our in-house trainer for the past two years. He brings over 20 years of nursing experience and a wealth of healthcare training expertise to Direct Medics.

Who Should Attend?

• Anyone who supports individuals (adults or children) at significant risk of self-harm or suicide by ligature.
• This course is mandatory for all Nursing and HCA staff within the five trusts across Northern Ireland.

Course Content:

• Suicide and Self-Harm
  • Definition
  • Scope of the problem
  • Suicide methods
  • Contributing factors
  • Risk profile of service users

Learning Objectives & Outcomes:

• Define key concepts
• Explain the prevalence of these issues
• Identify contributing factors
• Profile service users and assess their risk

• Duration: One full day
• Start Time: Registration at 9:00 AM, class begins at 9:15 AM sharp
• End Time: 4:30 PM
• Refreshments: Lunch and light refreshments provided
