This International Nurses Day we wanted to shine a spotlight on our Direct Medics staff who have worked as Nurses for many years. They have experienced first-hand the incredible work Nurses do and now provide support to nurses currently in the field.
Our Accredited Trainer, Johnny tells all about why he got into Nursing and why he now loves working at Direct Medics.

Why did you choose Nursing as a career path?
To help the people in my care.
What do you enjoy most about being a Nurse?
The patient interaction.
What are the most challenging aspects of a Nursing role?
Time, there is never enough time.
What advice would you give to people thinking of choosing Nursing as a career?
Go for it, it is the best job in the world!
This year’s International Nurses Day theme is ‘Our Nurses, Our Future’- What would you like to see for Nurses in the future that would help address health challenges and improve health for all globally and nationally?
Less Bureaucracy, more quality time with patients.
How did you transition from a Nursing role to Nurse Manager/Accredited Training role?
It was a long journey. I earned my experience firstly as a Band 2 HCA then as a Band 5 RGN before specialising as an RMN. Management is a big jump in responsibility by managing Staff and Patients.
Why do you think Nurses should choose to work with Direct Medics?
I joined Direct Medics following 18 years in the NHS, both as an RGN/RMN. Direct Medics feels like a family that offers me continued support and development. I feel valued in everything I do.
Thank you to Johnny and all other Nurses for their constant hard work and dedication to care.
