Course Contents

25th June: Safety Intervention Refresher Foundation, Advanced & Emergency Training

This one-day Refresher Course is only available to candidates who have previously completed the Safety Intervention Foundation, Advanced & Emergency training course within the last year.

Recommended For: Staff who work in environments that require more advanced skills and restrictive or physical intervention techniques who are required to attend CPI Safety Intervention training on an annual basis to refresh their knowledge and skills.

26th June: Manual Handling, BLS, Fire Safety and Anaphylaxis Training

Moving and Handling Patients

  • Current legislation, including HASAWA, RIDDOR, and LOLER
  • Spinal anatomy
  • People handling risks and how to prevent them
  • LITE risk assessment and task planning
  • Communication
  • Correct use of equipment
  • Falls awareness
  • Moving and handling in an emergency
  • Practical assessment
  • Pressure damage awareness

Basic Life Support and AED Use

  • UK Resuscitation Council guidelines and Chain of Survival
  • Recognising a deteriorating patient and when to get help
  • Choking
  • DRSABCD primary survey
  • Scene safety
  • Level of responsiveness
  • Head tilt chin lift airway management
  • Recovery position
  • Effective Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), and Correct and effective use of an AED
  • Post resuscitation care

Fire Safety

  • Employee and employer responsibility
  • Most common causes of fire
  • Fire Triangle
  • Means of escape and refuge points
  • Fire detection and raising the alarm
  • Medical oxygen, risks, storage and emergency procedures

27th June: Safety Intervention Foundation Training

CPI Safety Intervention™ Foundation training formerly known as MAPA®, incorporates trauma-informed and person-centred approaches. The programme is the perfect solution for professionals working in health, social care, and education who need to prevent and/or intervene in crisis situations. With a focus on prevention, it also teaches staff de-escalation skills as well as non-restrictive and restrictive interventions. Training Certified by Bild-ACT under the Restraint Reduction Network Training Standards.
